Dear Classmates,
Oh What a Day it was!
I can't believe it has already been over a week since our get-together. I did check my email last week but seemed to be playing catch-up on getting stuff done around home and didn't reply to any. We travel up to the Salem area about once a month to see my Mother-in Law, so that's were Jerri & I have been since Saturday. We're heading home now so I'm letting Jerri drive and I'm going to write something. It takes us 3 hours to go the distance.
The reunion was a great success and I had a great time, but there was a lot of picture/-name tags left on the table. I just want to apologize for being late and for having to leave early. My wife and I had to get on to Cedartown to visit relatives before heading back to Smyrna. We had intended to stay in Rockmart with my niece, but that didn't work out.
Thank you Patsy, Sandy, Frieda, Ronnie, Linda D., and all those that helped put this event together.
For those that I did get to meet with (especially the "Centerville Gang"), THANKS for the memories. Wayne, I’m sorry about the tire on your bike. I really don't remember that particular incident, but I’ve always wondered how survived all those bicycle wrecks. We did have a lot of good ball games behind the old Second Baptist church, or at C.H. Maxwell’s house. Jerry Culver, you probably remember me as being a "bad luck" person since you got injured so many times with me around. We talked about the chain breaking on your bike and the car crash with Ronald Lanier, but do you remember the time at the R.A. meeting when I about cut you finger off with my pocket knife? Then there was the time that you were using glass bottle as a hammer and cut an artery on your hand when the bottle broke. You ended having to go to the hospital to get it to stop bleeding, and of course I watched you about tear your palm off when you stopped the lawnmower engine with your hand. Everything was going good till the engine tried to run backwards. I almost passed out at the doctor’s office, when he injected the Novocain in you hand. YIKES! (As a matter of fact, I've never fainted …yet!)
Tim, sorry we didn't get to visit longer, I had hoped to get by and talk with your Dad.
Archie, thanks for the encouragement for joining the USAF. I think of the times when you would come home for the weekend from Warner Robins or where ever it was, and we'd meet up at City Drug. That was my last job before leaving for the Air Force. Mr. Spinks was a great employer and an inspiration to me.
After I got back to Oregon, I realized that there was several of you that I didn't get to even say hello to. Maybe next time.
Till next time,
Terry Hannah
