We got a learner's permit at age 15. At 16, you could get a real driver's license. You didn't have to show a birth certificate, take driver's ed, show proof of insurance -- you just DROVE.

From last week's paper: Cruise-in, complete with '57 Chevys

"My parents never drove me to soccer practice. This was mostly because we never had heard of soccer."

How many do you remember?
Head lights dimmer switches on the floor.
Ignition switches on the dashboard.
Heaters mounted on the inside of the fire wall.
Using hand signals for cars without turn signals

My family owned a Studebaker when I was in high school. The back doors opened from front to back. One night on a trip back from Cedartown to Rockmart someone decided to open the back door. The wind blew the door against the back fender causing lots of damage. Can't remember if it was Ronnie H or Ronnie F. Needless to say my Dad was very unhappy. Ken
