The Best and the Worst of Elementary School

Ken: Things that remind me of elementary school: Walking to and from school with my buddies. We would sometimes walk the railroad tracks even though it took us longer.
Linda: Things that remind me of elementary school: Paper with special lines, large pencils, playgrounds and recess.
Ronnie: Things that remind me of elementary school: ( Radiant heaters hot to the touch - also cloak rooms where my one and only coat spent many nights leaving me walking to school the following morning ... FREEZING ).

Patsy: How much milk cost when I began school: Milk was a dime, but I could get chocolate or white.
Ken: How much milk cost when I began school: Probably around 5 to 10 cents. I remember milk being delivered to our front door at home in a glass bottle. After finishing we would put it on the front porch for the milkman to pick up and he would leave us another quart or so.

Ken: Thing I didn't like about school: Being cooped up all day inside a classroom. In fact, while in High School I made a speech in Mrs. Myers English class saying I felt like I was in a chicken coop. The class laughed but Mrs. Myers didn't think it was all that funny.

Ronnie: Scariest thing about school: ( Facing my 3rd. grade teacher Mrs. SELMAN!!. She once told me I'd look good SCALPED! Anyone who attended Goodyear School knew this woman was capable of doing such a thing ).
Ronnie: Strangest thing: ( When I hugged Mrs. Selman the day she promoted me to the 4th. grade ).
Patsy: Strangest thing: It was strange that I couldn't talk in class.
Linda: Strangest thing: The magician show that came each year -- it always amazed me how he could pull a rabbit out of a hat.

Ken: Favorite teacher: While in the sixth grade my family moved to Bartow County (only stayed there for a couple of years thank goodness). I do not remember my teacher's name but she was a beauty. Could not wait to get to school each day.

Ken: Party tricks I learned in elementary school: When playing spin the bottle I knew how to get the bottle to land on the girl I had a crush on.
Ronnie: Party tricks I learned in elementary school: ( Uhhh ... I must have been a slow learner. It seems my trick skills didn't develope until a few years later ).

Ken: Favorite classroom: All were about the same but my favorite subject was math.
Linda: Favorite classroom: My 2nd grade classroom where we learned to play "musical" instruments.

Ken: A significant elementary school memory: Going to my first Thankgiving football game between Rockmart and Cedartown. It was very cold but lots of fun.
Linda: A significant elementary school memory:Moving to Rockmart when I was in the 4th grade and making lots of new friends.
Patsy: A significant elementary school memory: I was spanked by my first grade teacher because my name was written on the blackboard three times.

Ken: Best seasonal memory: Christmas would be #1, summer vacation #2.
Patsy: Best seasonal memory: I remember playing in the snow one winter (rare even then) and building my first snowman even though he was very small.
Linda: Best seasonal memory: Going to the woods with my dad to find a Christmas tree to cut down and drag home to decorate. Stringing popcorn and cranberries for decorations--then hanging LOTS of icicles.
Ronnie: Best seasonal memory: ( Warm months when there'd be "field days" with the sack races etc.).
