All Shook Up

Patsy wrote to Terry:
Do you remember the R.H.S. Talent show when we were in school? Kenneth Forsyth pantomimed "What It Was Was Football" by Andy Griffith? I remember that the Andrew Sisters were pantomimed by three upper class females--one was Glenda Marks, but I don't remember the other two. I know more of our class was in that
show. Do you remember any more of our classmates in
the talent show?

Terry replied:
Are you kidding?? That talent show is one of my favorite stories to tell my children and grand children.

Billy V, Doug, and I came up with the skit where Billy acted the part of Edward R. Murrow interviewing Ed Sullivan (Doug), and I was supposed to be a film clip of Elvis performing "All Shook Up". The teachers or somebody liked our skit so much that we ended up using that format and made all the acts a part of the Ed Sullivan show.

Doug was fantastic and could look and sound just like Ed Sullivan. What I remember as the most embarrassing moment of my life happened that night. After all the practice, and ready to make my debut into "stardom"; I began my lip-sync of ALL SHOOK UP and at about 10 seconds into the routine, THE RECORD STOPPED! I never knew if it was on purpose, or just a cheap player, but before it was over most everyone thought it was part of the act and laughed so hard that tears were flowing.

I think Sandy sang a Patsy Cline tune but we'll have to ask her. One of the acts was "Donny and the Hurricanes", and they played one of the "Johnny and Hurricanes" songs, popular at that time. Donny and another guy (can't remember his name) later teamed up with Sonny and formed "The Aqua Tones". You may remember them playing at the dances after ballgames in the Gym. I even sang a couple of times with them.

One of those times was the last day of school at the "Liberation Day Dance" with "Lonesome JIM". I sang Whole Lot of Shaking Going on, and Alley OOP, and by the way, it was broadcast on WPLK LIVE.-Terry
